Fierce Elegance : Embracing the Refined Spirit Within a Lawyer’s Life
I had a revelation this morning when I read the latest article in Vogue. Zadie Smith, an English writer, explains how, when she started as a professor, choosing her wardrobe was a complex process. It was ultimately in New York that she was able to assert her own style while being a renowned teacher! I had the same state of mind at the beginning of my career. As a lawyer and an artist, I sometimes need to express myself through my look of the day. This freedom of style simply allows me to express myself. For example, certain accessories inspire me. Others don't. Style should come from within and not from society, which should instead guide us with kindness and not impose anything... What about the lawyer's robe? Élégance féroce : Embrasser l’esprit raffiné de la vie d’une avocate
J’ai eu un déclic ce matin lorsque j’ai lu le dernier article paru dans Vogue. Zadie Smith, une écrivaine anglaise, explique comment, à ses débuts, en tant que professeure, choisir sa garde robe était un processus complexe. C’est finalement à New York, qu’elle a su affirmer son propre style tout en étant une enseignante renommée! J’ai eu le même état d’esprit en début de carrière. Avocate et artiste, j’ai parfois besoin de m’exprimer à travers mon look du jour. Cette liberté de styles me permet simplement de m’exprimer. Par exemple, certains accessoires m’inspirent. D’autres non. Le style devrait provenir de soi et non de la société qui doit plutôt nous guider avec bienveillance et ne rien imposer… Quid de la robe d’avocat.e.
